Memphis... Till the End!

So much to talk about I don't even know where to start!

Thursday we made an adventure to Mississippi to see the infamous Graceland! I'm not exactly the world's biggest Elvis fan, but it was definitely and experience that I won't forget any time soon. Chris without a doubt loved it more than I did. I did learn that Elvis had a twin and other than one or two shows in Canada, he never did a concert outside the US!

Friday we slept in so late! I was sure we wouldn't get anything done what-so-ever! We did go to the most amazing movie theater ever and The Great Gatsby. While it isn't quite my favorite movie in the whole wide world (it would be very tough to beat Breakfast at Tiffany's or Gone With the Wind), I liked it a lot better than what I expected after hearing the reviews. Chris says I still need to read the book. Maybe I'll go buy it for my waits and plane rides in the next few weeks revolving the special Marine in my life? Anyways, then we went back to Beale St. for some dinner and live music. It was definitely the right way to make up for sleeping over thirteen hours!

Today we woke up early and headed to the Zoo. $15.00 later, we both decided we prefer the St. Louis Zoo (if not simply because it's free). We did get to see a pretty cool exhibit about nocturnal animals, which last I had checked, the zoo in STL doesn't have. After a few hours, we decided to leave the child infested area and go relax with some mani/pedis. I might add that it was the first time for me to get a mani/pedi... ever... in my twenty years of life! Oh my, let's just say I think I have found my newest addiction. Decided on a nice deep red and made up my mind I have to go more often to get my nails all done up! We came back to the room to get a little bit more dressed up so that we could go out for our last big shi-bang with a Dinner and Music Riverboat Ride. While it was a little bit of a splurge, I have to say it was well worth every penny. The views were amazing, the food not that bad, and not only was there live music, but a majority of the other dinner guests belonged to a dance school, so they were definitely putting on a show with all of there much better than me dance moves! After some hectic traffic full of cops and whistles and ridiculously annoying drivers, we made it back to the hotel, bottle of wine in tow.

While I feel like attempting to sum up these past few days in the few words that my time has allowed me to put into type is far from adequate, I can simply say that this trip was much needed. It was just nice to get away and have some fun with my best friend. Fingers crossed it becomes a tradition! :)

Girls Weekend in Memphis

Six hours driving south with my best friend landed us smack dab in the middle of downtown Memphis! We've been planning this trip since the beginning of the year, and let's just say after finals week last week it is much needed!

We didn't do anything too exciting- especially considering I just turned twenty. We did make our first stop Beale St. and ate some yummy ribs at BB Kings! Chris drank some peachy potion called Love on the Delta while I settled for a virgin Bloody Mary. She got the giggles while I got to giggle at her soberly. Can I just be 21 already? They had a live band that played all kinds of the classic songs you'd associate with Memphis, just wish I actually caught the name of it. They were surprising good with their remakes of Elvis and Johnny Cash. Next we hit the street. Got to see Coyote Ugly up close and personal, yet once again being as I am not 21 yet, I couldn't get in. I did peek in and the bar was lined with bras just like I expected it to be! We explored the gift shops and found lots of cute little odd bits, but decided to wait and see what else was in store in terms of shopping. We do have four more days in town after all!

Now we're back in the hotel room, sipping on some sweet summer time refreshments, and ready to hit the hot tub! First night in Memphis is easily a success!! :)

PS- After 9 whole months Chris has finally conquered the art of scrolling down on my Mac.
